If you learned it, you shoulda got an A on it

This video was featured on the CBS Evening News tonight. It was wonderful! I love that the HOPE Christian School in Milwaukee allowed the kids to create this song and video to inspire the whole school to meet high standards. This school is in inner city Milwaukee and serves a primarily African-American population. In the video story by CBS, I saw kids in neat uniforms (but there was a little room for individuality) studying and working in their desks. I saw middle school kids reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and other kids reading classics. WOW! They are engaged in the learning going on in their school. The song is probably a natural outgrowth of good learning and teaching going on, but it also shows the rest of the education world what can happen when kids are encouraged to be themselves and enjoy their learning.
